The Chevrolet Equinox is an impressive contender in the compact crossover/SUV segment. It exists on a shared platform with the GMC Terrain and Buick Envision.
The Equinox has one engine, a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes an impressive 170 horsepower and 203 lb. ft., attached to a 6-speed automatic transmission it delivers 30 mpg on the highway. Front-wheel drive is the standard drivetrain, but all-wheel drive is available.
Storage areas are abundant and include an oversized glovebox, a closed storage bin in the instrument panel above the center stack and a closed storage bin under the center armrest that is large enough for a laptop computer.

With all this standard equipment, the Premier can also be outfitted with a navigation system, a power sunroof and 18-inch machine aluminum wheels.

The Chevrolet Equinox gets a few changes for the 2022 model year, refreshed headlights and grille design with updated front and rear bumpers. The Equinox family adds the RS trim with black 19-inch wheels and blackout exterior finishes for a sportier look. Also, Chevrolet has dropped the turbocharged 2.0 L 4-cyl engine heading into the new year.
Starting at around $27,000, the 2022 Chevy Equinox rivals Honda's CR-V and the Ford Escape.
